IT'S FINISHED!!!!! EVANS PLAY SET IS A GO!
I'm going to make this post something of a hooray! Clara reveal! and a review in case someone else is googling differing sets frantically trying to find honest reviews from people who have actually purchased and used the set.
For those of you wondering how Clara reacted to her brand new play set:
Checking it out |
just like this :) |
On a Scale of 1-10 of happiness, what does that look like to you? :)
*please note that we did get the tire swing installed after some of these pictures*
First things first, according to Clara:
Emma was pretty happy too, although this picture really doesn't demonstrate that:
Part of the problem was that Emma had to conquer the grass to get there |
(I knew it was going to take something really exciting to get her to voluntarily step out on the grass, poor thing.)
Her favorite part! |
Emma took a break from the grass to enjoy the pavement, ha.
We invited Papa & Lulu over to see the play set and to have dinner with us.
Careful y'all, tiny person driving |
up and down and up and down
Outfit change brought to you by the many wedgies the slide gave Clara in her bathing suit. There is NO reasoning with a toddler.
The picnic table is fantastic. |
A little slurping action |
We wore this chica out.
Review for the play set researchers out there desperate for information:
PROS:
- There is room for so many kids to play at the same time. We've already had 4 kids playing on it at once and it was no big deal.
- It's aesthetically pleasing.
- There are lots of things to do - multiple swings/telescope/steering wheel/rock wall/3 ladders/fire pole, etc.
- The picnic table is awesome! And plenty of room for 4 people to sit together, or 6 kids easily. It's also shaded which is a win!
CONS:
- There's not an included assembly option so you either have to put it together yourself or hire someone, and, according to the guys I hired, it was a bear to put together. It took them 2 days, and it was HOT.
- I don't like the fact that there's not an easy way down from the other tower. Neither of my kids can safely do the fire man pole yet, so they have to go back down the ladder or ramp. I ordered a slide from somewhere else that we are going to attach to the place where the rope ladder is on the far side since they can't really do that either. We are also going to temporarily swap one of the swings for a bucket swing for our 1 yr old for obvious safety reasons.
- On the website they mention the wood "checking" (aka cracking), and indicated that it would happen as it was assembled, but shouldn't be too much. It's definitely a substantial amount, but I don't believe the integrity of the set is affected, which is good.
After 3 days of play time I give the play set 4 stars. Once the other slide arrives and is installed it'll be a 4.5 for sure - and if it keeps wearing out my kids this way, I may call it a 5 after all :)
We are thrilled with our play set and so excited to get some great use out of our backyard.
