Day 2 of school & goofiness

Emma's teachers are amazing and sent me these sweet photos on Tuesday of her in class. Makes me feel so much better just seeing what they are up to!

Apparently Emma walks around with that white thing most of the day

"book!"
"Ball!" playing outside
Happily coloring away

What a bunch of little ones looks like
"Turkle" is one of Emma's new favorite words (aka: Circle)
Sweet, peaceful baby snoozes
a quick chance to play together before going home!
Once they got home from school (and Clara changed clothes, ha), they got up to more fun stuff too:

practicing her name
Emma on the kid's laptop pressing button after button after button
Clara teaching Emma the letters that she knows
Drawing with Mommy:

Making her own smiley face!
I was sitting on the counter talking to Bryan briefly when Emma came up and starting swinging my feet and pointing at my toes.

So naturally Clara joined in.

Notice in the video that Emma gives my foot a random raspberry! I didn't even know she knew how to do that! What a bunch of goof balls.

And then we gave them some juice (frankly, we really needed Emma to poop), they both put it on the ground between their legs and drank without picking it up. I don't know where they get these ideas.

That was our Tuesday!

PS Today is day 19 of our yeast cleanse and we are still making it with a few "cheats" - I use my regular peanut butter instead of the stuff I'm supposed to :-/ and Bryan's used a little bit of ketchup. Not supposed to, and I'm admitting it here, but we are mostly doing really well with it.

First day of school!!! 2015-2016

Monday was a big day for entire family! Bryan had an important meeting at work, Emma started the Older Toddlers class, and Clara started Pre-K for 3 year olds and I started teaching we well!

Bryan and I did absolutely everything we could to prepare ourselves the night before, but we knew even despite talking up the "special school outfits" (aka uniforms), Clara was going to have a melt down. The precious child LOVES to pick out her own clothes. She wants to accessorize, and match and clash and wear mommy's shoes or non-matching shoes, and a hat with a bow on top. She is such a free spirit and I love that about her!  But even free spirits sometimes have a to wear a polo shirt, sadly.

We were right. It went something like this:

BUT! Mommy got her a brand new backpack with her name on it and ballerinas, which made the whole world a better place. Plus she was allowed to pick out her purple bow (I didn't care in the slightest that her bow and shoes didn't match). I asked to get a first day of school photo of HER, but she really just wanted to keep touching her pretty new backpack :)

my heart
I love that they are wearing identical smiles!
Ready to go! Sisterly support! Solidarity.
To appease Clara I took a picture of their new backpacks - ballerinas and zebra
Once I dropped off the girls and pulled into the parking lot at my own school, I snapped this:
The first day of my 7th year of teaching! hehe

In case you were curious what my classroom looks like this year:

When I picked up the girls, Clara was so happy and just absolutely gushed about her first day of school and all of her new friends and her new teachers and her new backpack and how she was gonna change her dress ONE MINUTE after we get home :)

Emma's new teachers sent these two pictures to me during the day:
Playing outside
Painting
They told me that although Emma doesn't look happy with arts and crafts time she was only upset because they paused the music for a moment and she wanted to keep dancing and painting at the same time :)

It's been 3 days now and I can safely assure you that both girls adore their teachers and their classes. Such an answer to prayer!

I hope all of the first days went as smoothly as ours did!

Open Gym Play

On Monday after the first day of school (next post I'll write), I took Clara and Emma to free Open Gym playtime Kidville had, and it even included a bouncy house! We plan to go back tomorrow for some kid friendly ziplining, but we'll see :) I'll update you if we decide to.

Almost all of the photos I took were during a video, so there wouldn't be much new. I'll post the videos, and then any of the photos you see here are when I wasn't videoing. But most of the time I was just playing with the kids and having fun! :) Plus my kids were completely spoiled by all of the Lulu time they got when Bryan was away and hoped she'd join us for a little while, and she did! (It's nice having our tots class place so close to my parent's house!)

Trampoline fun (though they call it the "Tumble Track" there):

Climbing around:

More Tumble Track:

Emma can climb up the slides now! (say what!? I know!) Scares me half to death, but still awesome! Keep those motor skills up, baby girl!

Just being cute:

Then they got a chance to play in the bouncy castle! hooray! And Emma was a MUCH bigger fan this time than she was the last time she got in one. The videos I'll post didn't do her justice. She had lots of happy feet going on, and kept playing even after Clara got out!

And then Clara got brave and wanted to attempt rock climbing all by herself:
Emma trying to mimic
Proud of herself!
Lulu helping Clara with the next step up
Monkey see, monkey try
I'm proud of her for trying something new without prompting! go girl!
I helped hold Emma up so she could play on the bars too, but Clara doesn't really need help anymore.

Slide time
Silly girl
One of Emma's new favorite things is to hold a ball and say "CATCH!" and then throw it at me. Then, when I have it, she holds her hands to her chest and says, "CATCH!" again and starts giggling when the ball softly taps her and rolls to the floor :) It's a pretty stinking adorable game. I've got to get Bryan to film it some time.

"Catch!!"
A little balance beam action
And that's it for that! The girls had so much fun and were pooped out when we got home. It was pretty much dinner, books, songs, bed.

Happy Birthday, Meemaw!

This past Sunday we got to celebrate a very special 80th birthday!!

Nope, not Clara's, even though she's wearing the crown ;)
Meemaw's!

Uncle Dewayne and Aunt Tricia were kind enough to invite us all over to their home to host a party for Meemaw. We had a delicious lunch and the opportunity to visit with family. Even Tyler came along with us :)

The girls were obsessed with stairs that didn't have a gate. Thankfully there weren't too many escape attempts. Crazy ladies.
:)

Clara's so helpful with the opening of other folks' gifts
Meemaw, I love your smile!
Clara softly singing "Happy Birthday" to Meemaw

It was lovely! Thank you for allowing us to celebrate the occasion with you!
Happy birthday again!
