4 month stats

I did Emma's pictures yesterday because I had a feeling she'd be feeling kind of sad after her doctor's appointment today (shots, booooo) and not be up for a photo shoot.

We found out she's 12lbs,3oz (12%) and 23.875in, 25%. She's an itty one!

She's perfect, according to the doc (and according to us!)

"3" month pictures/4 month letter

Okay, so technically Emma-Girl will be 4 months old tomorrow (say what!?), but I'm still counting this as getting her 3 month pictures done :)

[Sorry sweetie, it's what happens when you're the second child and your mama has a part time job and school to deal with. It's not a lack of love!!]

Dear Emma,

Tomorrow you will be FOUR months old. This is incredible to me because I honestly can't quite remember what life was like without you and your sister. It feels remarkably like we've always been a family of four (with puppies).

You are so similar to your sister in looks (see photo below!) and you both have such beautiful smiles. You are both very talkative. Truly I could listen to you coo and blow bubbles and babble for hours.

You are expressive when you choose to be, but it's incredibly difficult to change your mind if you'd prefer to watch from the sidelines, reserving your opinions for when you're ready to express them. You love to smile at familiar faces, blow bubbles at people who say hello, and your have the absolute best pouty face with your bottom lip sticking out a city block.

Your favorite things consist of raspberries on your legs, lots and lots of kisses all over (the inspiration for the below photo!), someone strumming your lips and (lightly) poking your wee nose. You also like to put yourself to sleep by rubbing your face against a blanket and sucking on your fist.

We'll find out next week how big you are, but for now just know you are precious and wonderful and we love you!

You and your sweet sister at the same age & in the same outfit:
so cute!
 Love you!
Lots of cuddles & kisses!

5 videos of the girls being silly

This first video is an example of our evening "fun" :)

A chuckle! We hadn't managed to catch one on video until now!

Everyone's a "rina"!

Bounce the baby on the exercise ball in the k'tan while she chews on her fist

And then Clara joins the party

A little video glimpse into a typical day or two around here!

17 weeks old

Oops! Took this yesterday but forgot to post it!

17 weeks old! Almost 4 months - isn't that unreal? I don't actually really remember our "before 2 kids" normal.

Emma is much more reserved than Clara was - she likes to laugh and talk and smile and blow bubbles, but she will scope the situation out, and you have to really work hard for the laughs.

She's really just the sweetest thing, and she thinks Clara is so interesting (don't we all!)

She's still nursing every 2-3 hours, and has no interest whatsoever in solids or bottles of any kind. We're going to have to do something about that since I go back to work part time in 2 weeks!

Love you Emma Lou!

Clara sings many songs!

This is a bit of a long video, but Clara sings several of her favorite songs! :)
Keep going after the first 20 seconds or so - I promise it gets more entertaining!

Saturday Family Time

One of my favorite things about our weekends is the early morning snuggle time we get with the girls.

Lately it's become snuggle-with-Emma/watch-Clara-be-goofy time ;)

She is absolutely loving her new dress!

She's got a thing for hats.

"Emma sit with Yaya?"

Double smiles! the stars are aligned!
Family nap time - all 4 of us slept for a little while, ahhh-mazing

We decided to go to one Clara's 2 favorite restaurants for dinner: Crusts. She had SIX pieces of pizza (squares not like Papa Johns' slices, so not as much as it sounds but still a ton!) and an Andes Mint :)

Then since the day was still young we decided to hit up the park since it wasn't too hot after a little rain, just crazy humid.

Always moving!

:)

The static in her hair cracks me up!

Swinging with her Daddy
Super short video of Clara in the big girl swing (right as she was tired of it):

Daddy & Emma swinging
Climbing and sliding!

And I took this very quick video of this weird voice machine thing at the park:

Worn out but still not completely happy to be leaving.

A good time playing!

Bed time was actually a disaster so I'll leave it at that for the night :)

Little of this & that

Ballet time!
Clara trying to catch bubbles in her hair and sweet Emma just watching all the pretty ballerinas!

Sweet friends at ballet :) Clara & Alexa

Twirling round and round and watching herself in the mirror :)
Ballet slippers or Lulu's sandals? Guess which one Clara would choose :)

What's quickly becoming a weekly tradition - dinner at Rico's!

Hehehe, love her dinnertime hairdo

Lots of "CHEESE!"s - "cheese ball! cheese!," "cheese mommy! cheese," "cheese Yaya (Clara), cheese!" too funny!

Planking while watching Bubble Guppies

A little light College-Bound Vocabulary reading

Pensive baby
Love the following series!!
She loves to play super baby!!!

she looks JUST LIKE Clara here!!

Once we got home Daddy super-babied Emma

And Clara mimicked him and tried to superhero Babydoll :)

And I'm throwing this one in because she's so darn adorable!

Just another manic Monday/Tuesday

This is the face Emma makes when she's ... yep, you guessed it :)

At the grocery store, every time someone smiled at Emma or talked to her she blew spit bubbles at them. Who knew friendliness was so damp?

Sweet smiles

My favorite part of parenting is when both children are screaming at the same time.
Oh wait, no it's not.

But thankfully tears can be cured with food 4 times out 5. After giving Clara a popsicle and nursing Emma our house got remarkably quieter.
poor little Emma
All better!

A little jealous I think :)
Attempting "real" pigtails. Then she got in trouble for hitting Mommy, so she's sulking here.

Playing pass-the-toddler. A different kind of plank?

Clara always wants Mommy's drink, so while we had wine with the lasagna last night I poured Clara a glass of cherry limdade (Crystal Light). She was delighted!

Papa bounced with Emma for a while.

Coloring, reading and ice cream - the best way to end an evening :)
