Happy Birthday Emma Lou!

All of these are from Emma's actual 2nd birthday (almost a month ago! ooops)

You are TWO!! Littlest Dude, you are my snuggler and my engineer. You like to play catch with mommy, dance with Clara, and build Legos with daddy. You adore your grandparents, the park, and finding the moon in the sky. When you're excited you turn on your "happy feet" and it's one of my favorite things in this world! You have strong opinions about which shoes you'll wear each day and can almost get them on yourself now. You're also ~50% potty trained! You are fearless, especially in the water, and swim remarkably well for your age.  You hit when you're angry and throw some seriously epic tantrums, but thankfully time out is working for you right now. "No" is a favorite word, and we are going to have to work on that. God made you to be such a special little person, Emma Lou, so weird and fun and sweet. I love you!

Dr. Emma (15mo appt)

On Thursday I took Emma to have lunch with Lulu and Papa after her morning nap while Clara was at school! I think she enjoyed the extra attention :)

After lunch with Lulu & Papa, Emmy and I had to go to the pediatrician for Emma's (almost a month late! sorry 2nd child) 15 month check up.
On a scale of 1-10, she's an 18 on the cuteness scale
When they weighed her they found that she was almost 19lbs (12%)
28" I think?? which was 8%
And her head was right around 50% like always (but I don't remember the measurement)

Waiting for the doc with Babydoll & Water

Emma at the doctor:

The 3 shots Emma received made her feel rather sad and sleepy, so when we got home it was time for a siesta. She ended up sleeping almost 3 hours which is unheard of with her!!

Sleeping the pokes off
Then we picked up Clara to play at home after she did splash pad at school!

And Clara sang us lots of songs :)

Dolly Exercise

Emma thinks she is a big kid.
She is incorrect, but we love her anyway.

She has also decided that one of Clara's biggest baby dolls is her own.. and takes it all around the house, feeding it, playing with it, and putting it to night night.

Seriously. They are nearly the same size.

But at least she gets her exercise lugging "Baby" around! :)

Splash Pad + Awesome Emma Videos

On Tuesday Clara went to school briefly, and even helped me "carry" the diaper bag out to the car :)

CB: "I gots muscles!!"
Clara's class

Emma coloring
And talking to her books :) hehe

This wagon says specifically that it is not intended for humans to use. However, that's really hard to communicate to Emma, who thinks the best thing ever is to sit in her wagon with her hippo and a book. She forgot her book so here she's telling me "my! my! my!" (meaning her book)

Remember me mentioning a post or two ago that Emma's been paying close attention to Clara as she rides around on her 4-wheeler? Well since Clara was at school, Emma saw her chance to climb on and figure out how to work it herself. I didn't do anything but watch!

Then we picked Clara up from school early so that we could meet our friends at the splash pad to play!
Pushing sissy in the stroller

Poor Emma totally got the short end of the stick because half of the stuff at the splash pad wasn't working - all the teeny kid stuff, so she mostly just watched the big kids.
I accidentally left Emma's swim suit in the dryer at home
But she did follow Clara up the slide a few times. It made me nervous because the other kids were really big and rather impatient.
Clara & Emma
But she loved it!

Taking a break for some crackers and water. (Also please note at some point Clara shoved a pool toy up Emma's hat and it took me a while to notice!)

Then we dried off and walked over to the playground in the same park.
This big kid was a trooper and gave both C & L rides on the turny thingy.

She liked it until it went too fast!!!

Emma and Clara climbing up!

The littles taking turns going down the slide. 2 adults makes it easier!
love these two
After the park we decided to meet the husbands at Chic-Fil-A for dinner with our 4 kiddos. The kids ate and got a chance to play a little while before we had to leave.

Bryan and Clara went to go pick up Maverick from getting his summer buzz, while Emma and I headed home to get her ready for bed. These pictures and videos crack me up!
Book before changing clothes
More books, of course.
"Cheese!!!!"
Enlisting Emma's help mailing a letter:

She did not wanna come back inside though because the kids a few houses down were playing basketball:

This summer is just so fun with these girls!

A lot of Emma + Clara at Gym

Other than Clara's last gymnastics class of the semester, this post is extremely Emma-centric. Enjoy the baby-ness! (PS. She's 14 months old as of yesterday!)

Emma is rather obsessed with shoes. Specifically Clara's shoes, although she'll settle for her own.

Impressive for a little tyke.

Shopping at Hobby Lobby for a few things for Clara's upcoming birthday party:

 It's tractor themed :)

We found a pair of Size 1 (3-6mo) shoes at Hobby Lobby that fit PERFECTLY! they are maybe a teensy bit too big, but barely. The only problem is that we can't find shoes with slip resistant treads in her very tiny size, so Mom & I cooked up the plan to put hot glue on the bottom of the shoes to create our own "treads," and she's been wearing them ever since!

Trying them on

Then Emma was super duper hungry so Lulu & I took Emma over to Wendy's. She had fun playing UNDER her high chair and opening the toy.

:)

When we got home I practiced my hat origami. Maverick unwillingly modeled for treats.

Then it was time to head to gym!

Love her twirls:

Emma got into it this time, and Clara did a great job:

So thankful for sunshine after so many days of rain!!!

And that's caught up through this past week, so there is plenty of fun to blog about next!
