Our last day in San Francisco was Sunday. As Bryan so aptly put it, "we were going to church and then to prison!”
First we attended church at St. Vincent Di Paul, which was beautiful. The choir (and especially the cantor) did a wonderful job. I could have listened to him all day :)
After church we took a cab back to the hotel via Lombard Street (very cool!), changed, and headed to Hard Rock Café – which Mom picked, keeping our tour of “The Rock” in mind :) Delicious!
Our ferry time was at 2:30. We boarded up and then got off at the little island hosting Alcatraz (or, as we Harry Potter fans kept accidentally saying – Azkaban!). They have a audio listening tour, which is usually very hard for me to follow along with; however, it was 3 former prison guards and 3 former inmates that actually told the stories and gave the explanations on the guide, which kept it very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to visit San Francisco! We roamed all over - saw the showers, cells, dining area, exercise area, as well as were the guards lived. I really loved this excursion! (Of course, it was a VERY steep hill to climb to see it! *notice the picture of dad pushes Grandma back down, haha*)
After Alcatraz, all 9 of us got our chocolate faces on for Ghirardelli Square! After some yummy ice cream, everyone went their separate ways. Some back to the hotel, some shopping, some for dinner, etc etc. It was our last night and it was a very nice way to relax, unwind, get packed up and get some good rest for our travel back.
The next morning we boarded Air Anadarko once more, and a few hours later were home-sweet-home in sizzling Houston.
Maverick was VERY happy to see us!! In fact, he was so happy that he helped us unpack :) Well, he would spend time sitting IN our suitcases, running back and forth between us, and stealing our socks :) We missed our little guy!
It was a WONDERFUL trip! Thank you Mom & Dad for taking all of us with you. Great company, great wine, great food, great entertainment. Love you both!
