First, let me say that while most of these photos from this post and the other one will focus on the things we did over the weekend to celebrate the Easter holiday - the TRUE celebration is that Christ is NOT dead, He is alive!
He rose from the dead. THAT is incredible, miraculous, and worth celebrating.
Bunnies and eggs are no more exciting this weekend than they usually are to us, but thanks to long ago missionaries trying to spread Christianity, they frequently adapted pagan rituals, beliefs, and symbols into Christian celebrations to make it appear more appealing and comfortable to potential converts. Thus, when pagans celebrated the Spring season, and with it fertility and signs of new life (symbols like hares and eggs), and we celebrated Christ's resurrection around the same time, well the two just kind of got blended together. So now we get to celebrate Easter at church and with chocolate bunnies. Why not?
We started off our Easter holiday by looking adorable in some bunny ears that Ms. Beth gave Clara So cute!
Then we got dressed up Saturday afternoon after our walk and playtime to celebrate with Easter with the Meloy family with a crawfish boil at Aunt Tricia & Uncle Dwayne's house.
