Vacation 1: San Antonio & River Walk

Yesterday we began our summer vacation.

I made a VERY thorough packing list (or so I thought), and got everything ready to be loaded up on Friday morning. (Turns out I packed everything Emma, Clara and Bryan might need, but only got about 2/3 of my stuff... doh).

Then we drove to Montgomery to drop off Maverick with one of my students for while we are gone.
Clara made herself at home in their backyard and did NOT want to leave!
They sent me this photo yesterday afternoon. I think he's doing JUST fine :)
no shame
Then we stopped by the doctor really quick to check on all the green nastiness, and they said we could go, so we carried on!

Side note: Clara is 32lbs now!!!! AND exactly 3 feet tall! I knew she was going through a growth spurt recently but had no idea it was that much. And Emma is now 18lbs!! girls are getting so big!
love how Emma is pointing to the pictures on the table
Then we fed the girls and took off for San Antonio! Emma was a MESS and did not want to be in the car. Luckily about half way there she passed out. Clara forced herself to stay awake the entire time and only gave up about 5-10 minutes before we arrived at the hotel (Just enough time to really tick her off - doh!)

When I checked into the hotel there were some room mix-ups but we handled it and the girls had fun "helping us" get unloaded :)

Waiting nicely while I checked us in
Catching a ride
Emma really wanted to carry her on suitcase. And even thought it's very tiny, it was still just a little too big and heavy for her tiny self.
"A" for effort

Catching a ride back downstairs
We were much later than we intended to be because of needing to change rooms, etc, but we still managed to see the river, go on a boat ride and have some delicious Tex-Mex.

Lots of Itsy Bitsy Spider
 Almost to the River Walk:
Emma waving hi to everybody
Mommy, Daddy & the girls
(Clara wanted to be held, NOT to ride in the stroller. 3 year old frustrations.)

Climbing aboard the River Cruise!

where they honeymooned many moons ago :)

Waving Hi
Papa spotted the boat next to us where we park and look what it's called: "Ms. Clara"!!!

After the boat ride we were hot, hungry and thirsty!
Clara & Emma even got to participate in the music!

These kids were super pooped out, so while we waited to pay, Lulu & Emma went looking for ducks:

found some baby ducks by our table!
When we got back to the hotel after some highly potent margaritas, Emma and Clara wanted to play on the whale out front of the hotel:
Weeeeeeee!
And they were WIRED. Ran around like crazy tiny demons until we finally got them to sleep. Phew.

They needed their sleep because the next day they were going to go to SeaWorld!!
