21 Months Old!

Wee Clara is outgrowing her wee-status rapidly. Yesterday she turned 21 months old! When we were at the doctor this weekend getting her poor ears looked at she weighed in at 24.8lbs! She is still on the "little" side for her age, but catching up. Mom & I been doing some laundry to get ready for Tiny Two and to see the 18 & 24 month clothes next to Newborn and 3 month clothes just about makes my jaw drop. I *know* Clara was once that small, but it's so hard to visualize that now that she's this sweet, sassy, independent person who can walk, talk and do some things for herself. Amazing.

Anyway, I suppose Clara decided that 21 months old officially made her old enough to drive. She wanted Baby buckled into the car seat and Clara was going to drive BABY to school!!

You can possibily imagine how hard it was for Lulu to convince Clara she needed to ride in the car seat WITH Baby while Lulu drove. I believe it took some work on Lulu's part to accomplish this. Clara did end up going to school in the end AFTER riding there in her car seat while Baby waited for her at home :)

After Mom and I ran some errands and did laundry and reorganized my dresser, we picked up Clara from school and went to WhichWich for dinner and even picked up some mini-bunt cakes for dessert later, mmmm.

After we got home Clara did a little experimenting with household items. In this video she repurposes a headband in an unusual way. Sorry the filming is jerky and everywhere:

Clara also decided to give her toddler potty it's first trial run. I've not been actively trying to potty train her at all. I'm completely ok with waiting until after she turns 2, but she's started pointing to her bum and telling me "poopy" when she needs to go, so I thought I would provide the opportunity if she wants it.

Well, she first put Baby on the toilet (I guess to see what it would look like?), took off her pants and diaper and insisted Baby wear the pants while Clara gave the potty a try.

Clara sat there for 10+ minutes, scooting around, talking to Baby and Lulu and Mommy. Was really enthusiastic with the wiping part (though she never actually did anything) and was ready for a new diaper.

Note Baby watching with Clara's pants on
I wasn't sure what to expect this first time, and this follows a typical Clara-type approach :) Humor and the unexpected! We'll see if or when she becomes interested in trying again. In the meantime I have plenty of size 4 diapers in the Clara bin, never fear :)

After all of that, Clara got her pajamas on and read a story to Giraffe:

Sweet video:

And then put little cloth diapers on Baby and Giraffe before putting them to Night-Night.

(Can you spot Giraffe's pink diaper above? :)

To continue the 21-month-celebration, Clara appears to finally be settling into a new rhythm after the time change, phew. Those first few days were brutal!

Can't imagine life without you precious Clara Beth! Love you baby girl!

(Sorry for the one day delay in publishing!)
