Next up: Saturday!
Saturday morning was one of the nicest mornings we've had in Houston in a LONG time, and I knew we needed to take advantage of the 84*F, party cloudy weather or we'd surely regret it. One of my MOPS friends told me about a place in Conroe called 7 Acre Wood AND there was a Groupon so I took that as a sign that we should give it a try :)
But first Clara wanted chicken. I do believe this child could survive completely on chicken, pizza, oranges, gold fish and applesauce. It's crazy.
She's so goofy :)
And Miss Independent now believes she should get into the car and car seat all by herself, "No no Mommy, Yaya do it!" Can she do it? Yes. Does it take an additional 15 minutes? Yes. Is this a problem? Only if either a) one is in a hurry, b) the other child is irritated, or c) it's really hot outside or raining (or both) and you don't appreciate waiting on the child to get in by herself for you to be able to get out of the weather.
Once home we learned that Clara has discovered the purpose of pockets!
And that Emma desperately wants to roll over:
And Clara thought a headband would go nicely with her pony tail.
Clara and I read books while Daddy and Emma bounced on the ball.
After that Clara was much to excited to do anything as mundane as take a nap, so we finally gave up on the nap, loaded everyone up in the car, swung by to get Lulu and off to the 7 Acre Wood we went!
We made the mistake of starting our adventure with feeding the animals.
Clara was NOT impressed by this display of food aggression and wanted to get as far away from the animals as possible.
After watching the video and looking at the pictures, can you blame her for being a little unsure?
Emma, on the other hand, was curious. So Bryan and I took Emma into the petting zoo to blow bubbles and smile at the animals while Lulu helped Clara escape find something else to do :)
Swings!! One of Clara's absolute favorite things.
After swinging Clara did some shopping at the local jail/shopping center/restaurant:
And then felt brave enough to look at the animals on the other side of the fence.
Until Clara spotted the tortoise. THEN she wanted to go inside the fence so she could get a closer look.
And then she saw the cow! "oh my dosh, a cow mommy!" :)

Emma was starting to get very sleepy and irritated, poor thing.
But Clara still very much wanted to play with Mommy and Lulu so Bryan ended up wearing Emma so she could take a siesta :)
Mr. Mom :) |
No surprise we ended up back at the swings again :)
And then time for sliding fun!
And then sadly, Mommy made the mistake of agreeing to help her up the rock wall. If you ever need a self esteem hit, have your husband take a picture of you climbing a rock wall that's missing several pieces with your petite 2 year old child. It'll knock ya down a peg or two I promise!
"Mo, Mommy!?" No, sweet girl. No more of that! I was scared to death she was going to fall.
So we decided do "mo slide" instead. A much better alternative, in my opinion.
I love this picture so much!! It's so perfectly Clara!
All in all I think Clara had a fantastic time.
Since we worked up an appetite doing all of that playing and exploring we decided to eat at Cracker Barrel, and Papa even came to join us!
While we waited Daddy and Clara had fun trying on an Aggie helmet "hat."
These two pictures CRACK ME UP.
The two second Clara attitude switch-a-roo is so typical!
Despite the fact that my kids are absolute mess, their grandparents still love them dearly, for which I am extremely grateful!

Since I realized the kids unintentionally coordinated with their color schemes, I attempted to get a few sibling pictures when we got home.
Love them :)
Looks like fun! And I love love love that picture of Clara running and looking so happy :)
