Some *ground breaking* news

Bryan and I have commissioned a company to build us a backyard porch. We are EXTREMELY excited about this. It's something we've wanted to do since we bought the house (the yard was one the main reasons we bought the house.) A couple of years down the road we'd also like to add a pool, but for now we'd just gladly take an enjoyable outdoor living space.

We've gone through the design process and the approval process and on Friday they broke ground! Hooray!

This is what our patio looked like before the process got started:

View from our backdoor, garage on the left
We had this dinky little covered walked way that did absolutely nothing for preventing you from being soaked on rainy days or for providing shade on sunny days. Completely useless.

This part of the new patio (next to the garage) will be covered with an actual shingled roof with fans and recessed lighting.
Maverick takes a sniff of the potential
This side will be covered with a pergola. You can see where they were breaking up the existing concrete.

The end of Day 1 looked like this. Project to resume on Monday morning! (weather permitting, of course).

We are so exciting and we'll keep you updated!
