Devon's 2nd Birthday Party: Indiana Jones Style
Natalie did a great job planning Devon's 2nd birthday party! The theme was Indiana Jones - an archeological search in the sandbox for gold coins, raging waters on the splash bin, a snake pit and some golden chalices to decorate! So cute!
It was also the very first birthday party Emma has ever attended!
Clara had a hard time finding a way to play with the older boys at first.
She loved the Indiana Jones themed hats :)
And decided she wasn't shy enough to stay away from the water fun! Especially with Alexa to play with too.
The birthday boy was very sleepy and slept through the first part of his party, making a grand entrance a little later:
Once the kiddos were winding down, we brought them in, dried them off, and played for a little while.
When Clara was told to take a seat because there were going to be cupcakes, she looked a little put out when they had to wait a little while - cracked me up!
Singing Happy Birthday to Devon:
Clara tried to use the toothpick as a fork - it would have taken her YEARS to finish the cupcake like this!
I guess she decided it would too, so she gave it up and went all in:
Cute cupcake face :)
Washing it down with some apple juice:
Since she had refused to nap earlier in the day before the party, she conked out in minutes after leaving the party.
Playing is hard work!!!
Happy birthday, Devon! Thanks for having us!
Sweetest Sisters
Over the weekend our little family of 4 had a lot of fun together!
It was the weekend we took Clara's pacifier away, so we were prepared for it to be brutal, but I couldn't have been more surprised or pleased or proud of the way Clara handled the transition. (Of course if I'd known she was going to have 2 molars poke through in the past day I might've waited until NEXT week, but that's really beside the point.)
We started Saturday off by cleaning and organizing our garage. Well, Bryan & I organized and cleaned, the girls did this:
I spent most of the time working, but eventually Emma woke up and needed to eat and Clara wanted a popsicle. This was the end result:
lots of supervision for Daddy :) |
Then there was play time on the kick'n'play piano mat:
And while Mommy entertained Emma, Daddy entertained Clara.

We really enjoy cuddling in bed all together on Saturdays and Sundays and any other day we all are home. We do lots of reading and talking and playing. I seriously love it.
I LOVE this video of Clara reading!! So funny!!
Now Clara thinks of it as her personal bonding time with Emma too :)

Graduation & Games
This past weekend LPCA had their very first high school graduation. I have been so blessed to have started the year that Legacy first opened high school doors 3 years ago to freshmen and sophomores, and now look at us go!
I love these girls!! |
Fiercely proud of these young men and women.
A small but mighty group.
Emma slept through the entire thing! |
Selfie with their headmistress during the ceremony :)
makes my heart smile! |
Since there were only 5 graduates, the ceremony was short and sweet. Our Valedictorian, Katherine, gave a really excellent speech (making this English teacher proud :)
Since there was so much time left in the evening, Michelle and Logan came home with me from graduation and we had an impromptu game night.
Emma was a grump, so I put her in the wrap and bounced on the exercise ball while we played.
Mommy multitasking for the win!

Mom's Night Out
As I mentioned in my previous post, Thursday night was Mom's Night Out with several of my MOPS' friends. We met at Merlot and Masterpieces, and it was so much fun! It's really not too expensive with a Groupon. It's just like Painting with a Twist (the more well-known franchise), just a different name and different paintings.
The blank canvas ready to be splattered:
We all brought appetizers and desserts to share, and some brought wine and others daquiries.
It didn't take too long for the giggles to begin :)
Bryan had Clara had home, but I brought Emma with me. She hung out in the carrier for a little while, covered up by the aprons we were supposed to wear:
Then she got fussy, so I fed her and popped her into the carseat beneath my table (see her?) in hopes that she would let me rock her with my foot.
That lasted approximately 5 minutes by the way, in case you were wondering. Oh well. Painting with my left hand was an adventure.
Some of the ladies in action:
I'm so very thankful some of these ladies helped me out with Emma so I could occasionally keep up!!
I decided if my painting was terrible, I'd just claim Emma did it :)
The finished product and sweet Emma Lou:
Our group of MOPS ladies:
It was so much fun!! I'd love to do it again!
