Saturday the family woke up a little sluggish because neither Molly or Clara were in the right frame of mind for a good night's sleep. Shoot.
But once we were up and moving we headed outside immediately.
Somehow the word "open" is "ack" to Clara. It doesn't sound anything alike to me, but she does use it consistently and in context so I suppose it IS a word.
Anyway, she kept pointing to the door and saying "ack! ack!" to anyone who would possibly let her out.
The puppies were just as eager. I love Clara clapping at their antics in the background here :)
Driving with Papa in the limo.
Pretty soon the Cunningham crew started arriving! We don't get to have the entire family together overly often, so it was such an incredible gift and treat to get together this Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for driving down everyone! And thanks to Mom and Dad for hosting!
lots of hugs and hellos |
I don't have any pictures of the next few hours, but picture 10 or so kids ages 9mo-14 running around like crazy all over the barn and outside - kicking balls, climbing on tractors, playing tag, etc. It was a zoo and so much fun! I loved how easy it was for Clara to "play" with the big kids too. She was the youngest walker there, but she still had a ball running around yelling "yay" to everyone, feeling like a part of the crowd. I can't say how much I appreciate the kids let her do this - and were easy on her too! I know that's hard to do.
By the time the kids were running out of (some of their) steam, the chili and cornbread was ready to go. Yummm. Uncle John even brought us all some tamales! (deeeelicious)
(Don't mind the deer heads enjoying our Thanksgiving lunch with us in the background :)
Great-grandkid picture! (+ Lulu holding Clara because she fell off of the back earlier - thanks to a remarkable save by Brynn she was just scared not hurt. Phew)
cheeeeeeeeeeeese!!! |
Family pictures will have to come in a future post - I don't have them on my camera.
The kids had a ball. A few didn't make it into this picture but you can see most of them. Of course Uncle Chuck now needed to take them for a ride!
Clara stayed behind and ate some bubbles.
Daddy is awesome.
Mommy with the pups.
Clara and Molly were both in desperate need of a nap.
The two littlest mobile munchkins there - Brody and Kiersten! (Baby Molly is still pretty stationary)
Have you ever seen a prettier hostess?
I know it's dark, but I love this picture of Clara running to the fields
I guess when I was trying to make it brighter, I did something to the settings on my camera so the next few look a little different. (Not sure what I did?)
Riley was amazing and did a great job helping with Clara. Aunt Amy (aka Mimi) was also wonderful. The Cunningham clan knows how to handle kiddos, and I was so grateful.
love this shot of the pups! |
Grady the dog ... whisperer? slayer? protector?
Inside for a break.
Reading with Aunt Mimi |
Aunt Erin and Marissa gather all the girls around them. Or maybe Molly was the attraction here?
Molly and Clara with Auntie M and Uncle G |
Caleb with the pups |
Another ride in the stroller! |
More, reading please Auntie M!
Clara and Lily checking out Baby Molly
Reading with Papa during the Alabama/Auburn game
Goose made herself comfortable
Between the Auburn win and the Texas A&M game we hung out around the campfire.
It didn't last too long for Clara because she was too tempted to become PART OF the campfire, which wasn't too comfortable for us. Grady did a great job building the fire and keeping the kids involved.
During the A&M/Mizzou game Clara got a bath in the sink by Lulu, and managed to get her PJs all wet, so we waited for them to dry while reading with Daddy during the commercial breaks.
Most of us had some sausage and macaroni and salad for dinner. Clara thought about it for a while, and decided she only wanted applesauce and pretzels.
Playing with Bailey and Avery before bedtime.
Night night!
