It's (actually) beginning to feel like winter

This morning the temperature was 74*F. By the time our afternoon freak out time rolled around (~4:30-5:30) when we usually go outside to play it was down to 43*F! That's a pretty quick big drop. It also drizzled some and was windy/cloudy which made it probably feel colder than it was.

For all of my friends in much colder climates: I know we are a bunch of sissies here in Houston! But recognize it's been in the 80s-100s almost nonstop since last April. We are not acclimated :)

Although there were a few protestations to the jacket-wearing requirement, she finally warmed up (pun intended) to the idea and was cozy enough for half an hour or so outside. By then her wee hands were so cold!! (She didn't seem to mind but I can't help but worry.)

After a few minutes the hood even went on (again) and she kept it on! Must have been chilly enough to not mind the added warmth :)

I love this picture! It's one of our neighbors' ride on toys, meant to be a motorcycle look alike. He's about 6 months older than Clara so they aren't too far apart in interests and skill levels. Poor girl is so petite though that her feet couldn't touch the ground on both sides at the same time. Didn't stop her from giving it a valiant effort! Until it wore her out enough to prefer to push it around. Much easier when you're short!
Plus that little grin slays me.

Although she was sad to go inside I know it was good for us to get some fresh air, but then warm up. The flu is NOT welcome in this household.

Who would have guessed she would protest having her jacket taken off after all that anyway?! Silly girl.

Tomorrow the HIGH is 38*F so we'll see how motivated mommy is to chase her around in the cold. Burr!!
